The smallest eco changes can make a big difference…

Swift Eco

We take the eco-impact that we all have upon the environment very seriously here at Swift. We know that even the smallest eco changes made by us can make a big difference.  We are constantly examining our building and installation systems, along with our building materials, and wherever possible, we are commiting to a sustainable and eco-friendly approach.

Our Swift eco policy is to examine our methods, the materials we use and how we move it around the country so that we can make sensible decisions that prevent excess waste, pollution and detrimental side effects.

We aim to limit our environmental impact:

Rest assured that any measures that we take remain focused upon providing you with the best design and installation service.

As always, we will  provide options for you to consider and always do our best  try to accommodate your wishes.

Minimising waste

At Swift we are dedicated to production systems that minimises on wasted materials. By using our SIP method of construction, your new annexe will be prefabricated in factory conditions enabling us to carefully manage the most efficient use of timbers and this, in turn, gives you better value for money.

When installation begins and the elements arrive at your home you can notice that there are minimal off-cuts and no excessive ordering. The building industry is notorious for the waste that it produces.  Adhering to our systems cuts down on skips and returns which, in turn would all produce more vehicle movements.  By eliminating much of the site traffic, we help to keep air pollution on Britain’s roads down and reduce local on-site disruption to a minimum.

Fantastic levels of insulation

Your new annexe will have insulation that is highly efficient, reducing energy consumption.  This means that through the colder seasons you will have minimal heating costs, and still have a warm and cosy annexe. The high quality SIP panels we use, plus the excellent double glazing and almost air-tight construction make for stunning heat retention characteristics.

Carefully sourced timber

All of our timber is all sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified suppliers.  The FSC play a leading role in the promotion of responsible management of forests worldwide. Only the timber bearing their logo comes from sources that manage the forest to enable regeneration and replacement.

“As a physicist and Materials Scientist, I readily appreciated the advanced construction materials that offer considerable structural strength and excellent thermal insulation.”

Cutting down on transport

Our Swift eco policy is to cut down on transport and to help to keep air pollution on Britain’s roads down.  This applies to both transportation of materials and our team around the country.

We strongly believe in meeting face-to-face and carrying out a personal site survey – after all, you’re investing many thousands of pounds and deserve a service commensurate with your commitment. However, to minimise the carbon footprint of these visits we plan our appointments carefully and use economical vehicles. Our deliveries are honed down to a minimum and our installers often stay overnight close to your home to make the most efficient use of their travelling time and resources.

Respecting your garden

We always respect your garden space.  We aim to carefully work around trees and look towards imaginative planting ideally creating a new annexe that integrates into your garden rather than destroy part of it. Swift Tree Services are an independent extension of our group of companies and are able to give us first hand expert advice and eco practical help.

Rainwater

Rainwater can easily be collect for recycling. We can discuss your options and its many uses in our consultations.

Sedum Roofs

Living roofs look fantastic and help to keep the balance of greenery in your garden. They also add insulation to your roof at the same time providing an additional garden feature that is welcomed by wildlife.

“We wanted a structure that was aesthetically attractive, light and airy, insect-proof, warm in winter but economical on heating and lighting – and got it!”

DW, Altrincham
